Sender IDs and Coverage

  • What are Sender IDs, and how do I register custom ones?

Sender IDs are identifiers used to show the sender’s name or number on SMS messages. In countries that support or require Sender ID registration, you can register a custom Sender ID to enhance message authenticity and delivery. With Verify API Plivo’s default Sender IDs will be used, but registering your own Sender ID is recommended for better reliability, low latency, and an enhanced customer experience.

For more details related to Sender ID, refer to the video below:

  • What countries does Verify API cover, and are there restrictions?

The Verify API allows you to send OTPs in over 220 countries and territories using Plivo’s global SMS and voice infrastructure. In some countries, pre-registration of custom Sender IDs is necessary. While Plivo provides default Sender IDs in these regions, we strongly recommend that you register your own Sender ID to ensure reliability, low latency, and an enhanced customer experience.

Verify will automatically select the registered Sender ID for the destination country. Please note that different Sender IDs cannot be used for the same country. For further details on countries with pre-registration, refer here.
