Authentication+ for 10LDC Public Brands

Effective October 17, 2024, Authentication+ became a mandatory requirement for all public, for-profit brands registering for A2P 10DLC messaging through Plivo. This enhanced verification measure, introduced by The Campaign Registry (TCR), is designed to strengthen trust and security within the messaging ecosystem by ensuring accurate brand representation.

 

What Is Authentication+?

Authentication+ is an advanced brand verification process introduced by The Campaign Registry (TCR). It is designed to validate the identity and authenticity of public brands using A2P 10DLC messaging to prevent fraud, phishing (smishing), and brand impersonation.

Only public, for-profit entities are subject to this requirement. Authentication+ verifies that the entity registering the brand has a legitimate, verifiable relationship with it.

 

What Is The Campaign Registry (TCR)?

The Campaign Registry (TCR) is the central authority responsible for managing brand and campaign registration for A2P 10DLC (Application-to-Person 10-Digit Long Code) messaging in the United States. TCR works in partnership with mobile operators and messaging providers to create a transparent and secure ecosystem for business messaging.

Who Must Complete Authentication+?

Authentication+ is required for:

  • All new brand registrations that are classified as public, for-profit, and
  • Existing public brands when registering a new A2P 10DLC campaign
     

Entities not required to complete Authentication+ at this time include:

  • Private companies
  • Non-profit organizations
  • Government entities
     

Authentication+ Process with Plivo

At this time, Plivo does not support self-service initiation of the Authentication+ process via Console or API. Instead, the process is coordinated directly through our support team.

Steps to Complete Authentication+:

  1. Initiate Request via Support: Contact Plivo Support at support@plivo.com, providing the corporate email address (e.g., user@companydomain.com) of an authorized representative of the brand.
  2. Plivo Initiates Verification with TCR: Our team will submit the request to The Campaign Registry (TCR) on your behalf.
  3. Complete Two-Factor Authentication: The Campaign Registry will send a verification email to the address provided. The brand representative must:
    • Click the verification link within 7 calendar days
    • Complete the required identity confirmation and attestation process
  4. Brand Verified: Once the verification is complete, the brand will be marked as VERIFIED and eligible for campaign registration.
     

Important Timelines

  • Verification Link Validity: 7 days from the time it is sent
  • Resend Window: The link can be resent within 30 days of the original request
  • Post-Expiration: If not completed within 30 days, the Authentication+ process must be reinitiated
     

Authentication+ Fee

Beginning August 1, 2025, a one-time fee of USD $12.50 will be charged per public brand for Authentication+. This fee covers the administrative and verification costs associated with identity validation and is assessed by The Campaign Registry (TCR). Plivo will apply this charge directly to your account.
