Auth ID, Auth Token and How to change them

Plivo uses the following credentials to determine the account from which an API request is triggered:

AUTH ID: Acts as a username

AUTH Token: Acts as a password.

If another user gets access to your AUTH ID and AUTH Token, then he or she will be able to use the Plivo API just as you would. That means they can make calls or send messages towards any destination.

To avoid this, kindly ensure that the Auth ID and Auth Token are kept private at all times and not shared with a third party.

Where can I find my Auth ID and Auth Token?

The Auth ID and Auth Token can be found on the Plivo-Dashboard itself.

How do I change my Auth Token?

The Auth ID of any Plivo account cannot be changed.

However, the Auth Token can be changed by clicking here and choosing either of the two options listed

The new Auth Token generated will now be used as a password to authenticate every API request.

In case you feel that your Plivo account has been compromised and are see charges that are not as per the usage, kindly change the Auth Token immediately along with the Password of the Plivo account. For an increased level of security, kindly set up 2 Factor Authentication for the account by clicking here.

Now that we have credits in the account, a phone number and also are aware of your Auth ID and Auth Token, what are we waiting for? Let's begin to test Plivo's APIs!
