Plivo offers a free trial to all customers who sign up. This trail account includes free credits using which the Plivo's Voice and SMS APIs, and other capabilities can be tested.
Getting a Plivo trial is easy. Below is a quick manual on setting up your trial account and building something amazing with Plivo.
A free trial account allows us to purchase a number of choices and use the same to try out international voice calls and SMS to regular phone numbers (PSTN) by sandboxing the numbers.
Note: A Plivo free trial account never expires. One can go ahead and upgrade their account at any point in time to start using Plivo's services to the fullest, without any restrictions.
When a user signs up for a Plivo free trial account, they are provided with free credits to experiment.
These test credits can be used to make outbound calls or send outbound messages to the numbers that have been sandboxed in the Plivo free trial account.
All Plivo accounts created are prepaid in nature. That means you will have to add credits to your account before using any of our services.
There is no validity or expiry of the credits in your account. Credits once added can be used to make calls or SMS for as long as one needs.
There is no limit on the maximum amount of recharge that can be made for an account.
When the Plivo account goes below a certain threshold, Plivo will send out a communication notifying the user to add credits so as they can continue accomplishing their goal.
To Upgrade the Plivo account to Standard you will have to make a minimum recharge of $25.
Getting a Phone Number
When a user signs up for a Plivo free Trial account, they are prompted to verify the phone number. This is an important and mandatory security step.
To test Plivo's voice and SMS service, please head here to procure your first Plivo number.
A new Plivo number will be generated with its capabilities listed along.
Click on Search to find a number that best suits your needs. This could either be a specific country based number requirement or based on capabilities of a number(Voice and SMS). If the number doesn’t have the desired capabilities, the results can be further filtered.
Once the desired number is chosen, we are good to beign with the testing!
Trial Account Limitations
These tips are very important to get the most out of a Plivo trial!
When a user signs up for a Plivo trial account, they are provided with one number for test purposes. The user can procure the number of their choice with the test credits provided.
When the account is upgraded to Standard, the trial number will be carried over and charged monthly according to current Voice or SMS rates.
Voice and SMS
Outbound calls or Outbound SMS can only be placed on a verified phone number. Before attempting to place an outbound call, be sure to verify the number. That is Sandbox a number.
To Sandbox a number to the Plivo trial account follow the steps below:
Login to Plivo account at https://console.plivo.com/accounts/login/
Click on the account then click on Sandbox Numbers or click on the link: https://console.plivo.com/phone-numbers/
Click on "Add Sandbox Number"
Alphanumeric Sender IDs cannot be used with trial accounts.
