All short code must be reviewed by mobile carriers before it can be used. There are two levels of approval processes after you’ve submitted your application:

Plivo Review Process (1 to 2 weeks):

To help speed up the process, we review your entire application and help you refine it before submitting to carriers. Rental fees, hosting, and set up charges will also be collected at this time.

Carrier Review Process (8 to 12 weeks):

Carriers review your application form and any related websites or mobile apps. If questions arise, we will work with the carriers to answer them. At this time, carriers will also add the Short Code to their network and test it. Upon final carrier approval, your Short Code will go live and we will notify you that your Short Code is ready.

Note: Carriers also require leasing payments upfront in a minimum of 3 month payment intervals. Therefore, all fees are charged upon your application submission and you will be billed for your short code from the beginning of the application process onward. In the event that your application is not approved or delayed, we will work with you to edit or resubmit another application.

Please note that Plivo does not control carrier regulations and is not in a position to interpret any laws, rules, or regulations. Plivo will work with you and the carrier to help you become compliant, however it is important that our customer seek legal counsel on how laws and regulations apply to your company’s specific practices. Also, each carrier reserves the right to suspend short code service for any user at any time.
