Can I make outbound calls without purchasing a Plivo number or use a non-Plivo number as my caller ID?

Yes, you can make outbound calls without purchasing a Plivo number by using Plivo’s Bring Your Own Carrier (BYOC) feature or Verified Caller ID.

  1. Bring Your Own Carrier (BYOC):
    • If you have an existing telecom carrier, Plivo’s BYOC feature allows you to use your own carrier for outbound calling while leveraging Plivo’s platform for call control and routing.
    • This ensures flexibility and seamless integration with your current telecom setup.
  1. Verified Caller ID:
    • Register your number through the Plivo Console or using Plivo’s REST APIs or SDKs.
    • Receive a one-time password (OTP) via SMS or voice for verification.
    • Enter the OTP to complete the verification process.
    • Once verified, your number will be added to the Verified Caller ID list.
    • Use the verified number as the outbound caller ID without renting a Plivo number.

Calls using a non-Plivo number without Verification/BYOC will fail with an "Unknown caller ID" error.
